TURKEY BAREBOAT and SKIPPERED CHARTER

Blue Cruise independent UK yacht charter agency offering 30-50ft excellent selection of yachts. To charter a yacht bareboat you should be Day Skipper standard and be assisted by at least one Competent Crew.

EATING OUT- Each small bay has its own family run restaurant offering a wonderful choice of starters or "Meze" such as bean salad, calamari, aubergine, dip or borek - filo pastry rolls stuffed with spinach and cheese. The main dishes are grilled chicken and pork or kebabs and occasionally stews cooked in a traditional oven in earthenware pots served with rice or potatoes - delicious! The grilled or pan fried beef steak is excellent and very good value. There is a good selection of fish but it can be expensive. Some restaurants bake their own bread and you will find that most mornings someone will come to your boat offering fresh bread and pastries even in the most remote bays.

WEATHER CONDITIONS - The wind along the Lycian coasts is a reliable north-westerly known as the Meltem which normally blows from force 2 to 4, occasionally 5 to 6, regularly from mid to late morning until late afternoon. Wind often picks up near headlands and in the narrow channels. In the Gulf of Fethiye the prevailing wind in the summer months is south-westerly to south gusting over steep slopes, which makes for some exciting sailing in flat water.

An example yacht, S/Y Punkyfish, is shown, and the table below details specifications of each yacht, along with pricing.

View a larger image

Nestled in the north-western corner of the Gulf of Fethiye , Gocek is ideal place to start a one week charter exploring the dozen bays less then 10 miles from the base , some with restaurants such as Kapi Creek,Wall Bay, Sarsala, Boynuz Buku, Bedri Rahmi,Tersane and Yassica all within 2-3 hours sailing of each other. The eastern shore does not offer many stopovers, but you can anchor off the ancient town of Fethiye or use the new Ece Saray Marina. The Town is good for shopping and has a wide choice of restaurants.

Two weeks charters can extend the cruising area to Karacaoren, Freshwater Bay, Gemiler Island, Olu Deniz the southeast of the Bay of Fethiye, and sail further down to coast past Seven Capes to Kalkan from where you can visit the ancient sites of Patara and Xantos, Kas and Kekova from where you can visit the ancient city of Myra.

THE NUMEROUS BAYS AND COVES ALONG THIS STUNNING COAST CONCEAL A HOST OF HIDDEN ANCHORAGES, SURPRISINGLY, EACH WITH ITS OWN RESTAURANT.
